Last wedding of the year

Sent 2012 off in style today. We chauffeured Kirsty and her bridesmaids to the Faversham Brewery in the Karmann, unfortunately with the hood firmly up for the journey. Not the nicest of days but a beautiful bride and two stunning bridesmaids made up for it, hope you enjoyed the pink fizz! We wish you every happiness.

USA USA!!

Our Microbus was made in Germany in the Wolfsburg factory in 1965 and exported to the US for sale. Originally registered on January 1st 1966 in California it spent most of its life in the west cost sunshine. After being out of the sun and on English plates for 10 years, we got a new number plate pressed to remember her roots!

Flat 4

One for the grease monkeys out there, how many components can you name on this Aircooled engine?

Peep in

I can't help taking photos when walking past the bus. Peeping through the window at an interior that looks that good after nearly 47 years. That's German engineering for you!

That time of year again....

We've had the Microbus and Karman for about a year now and it's time for the insurance renewal. The nice lady at Peter Jones asked us for the mileage on the cars and I worked out we've done about 2,000 miles in each vehicle this year. That's 6,000 miles of Vdubbing.......Marvellous!

For the hobbyist in you

My dad is building a wonderful Märklin train set which he has been collecting pieces of since 1958. It's still in its construction stage but having a sneaky peak I did notice some authentic vehicles driving in the town!

The long game

When we got the Microbus it was completely stock. Original colours, interior, wheels and ride hight. Earlier this year we re-trimmed the inside with blue and cream leather which looks and smells amazing. Next year we are hoping to make some style changes to the outside. What do you recon?

Elbow grease......

The Karmann is getting her shoes cleaned! Phew, polishing is hard work, One down three to go!

Bows and Whistles

We closely coordinate with all our brides and their event planners to make sure that when we arrive in the wedding vehicle we are fully matching with the colour scheme of the day, with silk ribbons, bows and flowers. It the small things that make the difference. Oh and the complementary Champagne defiantly helps!

The joys of advertising....

We have been sent through a proof design of an advert we are placing in a golf club 2013 diary. I get calls on a daily basis trying to sell me advertising space in a variety of media. Most of which I pass on but occasionally a good sales person comes at me with a good product at a good price. This I like.

Road Tax

Put simply, there is nothing better than receiving a free tax disk! Long live classic cars!

Tweaked to perfection

A big thank you to Paul and the guys at Oakwood Kampers for setting up the carbs on the Karmann. These classic VW's are proper machines. The driver receives so much feedback through the wheel and pedals, not to mention the pitch of the rumbles and roars coming from the engine. By paying attention to these signs and tweaking bits before they go wrong keeps our vehicles in top notch condition.
(Oh and it was my birthday yesterday, you know what that means - More stickers!!!)

Sail away....

Have you ever been down to the creak in Faversham? Such a lovely area. We attended a lovely wedding for a couple Becky and Mike who got married on a barge floating down the river. They looked fantastic with a mad hatters tea party theme.

Autumn drive

Just gone out for a drive in the Karmann now the blue skys have come back. Loving the red, orange and yellow autumn world outside. They don't have weather like this in Santa Cruz that's for sure!!

Love those free stickers!!

A dub friend from Poland sent us over some free stickers and asked us to take some pictures of them on the Split. He's got a great Facebook page and posts lots of cool pics of European busses, lots of vintage stuff too, check it out at TheVintageVWBus. So the sun came out for an hour and I got snapping......

The tales begin.......

Thought i'd slip in a summer shot because even though it was pouring down today I took the cabriolet out for a little spin to warm her up. Also gave me a great excuse to be out there cleaning it! Its a good idea to start classic vehicles every week or two over the winter period so there is no chance of damage being done due to a cold engine block.
